In part 4 of this video series, Paul uses partial 3D scan data to reverse engineer the gear and gear shaft of the oil pump.
Similar to the approach he’s taken in previous videos, he uses 3D scanner data as a reference to sketching CAD. Paul does all the design work in SOLIDWORKS with the help of a plugin called Mesh2Surface.
In this video series, Paul shows you how to use a 3D mesh as a basis of design and his thought process behind the decisions that he makes while he creates the parametric CAD model of the entire oil pump.
