Draft angle is the angle or slope added to the vertical walls of a molded or cast part that allows it to be easily ejected from the mold or die. When 3D modeling or reverse engineering cast parts, you can now create a draft angle on their outer surfaces in Artec Studio without the need to transfer the data to a third party software.
New in Artec Studio 18: Create Chamfer and Fillet
Very few parts have exclusively sharp edges. Use Artec Studio’s chamfer and fillet tools to give models a level of polish, and provide finishing touches to reverse engineered parts.
New in Artec Studio 18: Instant Deviation Analysis
For Scan to CAD workflow, you can now instantly check for deviations while extracting CAD shapes from meshes, without ever having to leave the Construct tab.
New in Artec Studio 18: Move and Offset Faces
Artec Studio’s move and offset tools are perfect for replicating and modifying faces elsewhere in the workspace.
Auto-Surfacing In Just One Click
Compared to its previous version of the 3D scanning software, Artec Studio 18 helps you achieve even higher-quality geometry reconstruction when converting complex organic polygonal meshes into models with curved ‘NURBS’ surfaces.
New in Artec Studio 18: Surface Thickening Tools
Reverse engineering complex objects with non-primitive, freeform surfaces? The latest version of Artec Studio allows you to solidify these by thickening the surface of a mesh or CAD model to provide greater stability in applications such as 3D printing.
Modify Your Model with Boolean Operations
You can perform an essential geometric operation right in Artec Studio. Modify your models with CAD entities and meshes, using industry-standard boolean operations. Build molds, create complex shapes, fine-tune meshes to match the design intent, and more. Create more complex 3D shapes by uniting, subtracting, or intersecting your scanned model with primitives or other 3D models—without leaving Artec Studio.
Independent CAD Shapes As Primitives To Extract Key Geometrical Features
Whether you’re designing customized packaging, re-engineering wheel wells to fit high-performance wheels, or devising a new circuit board, CAD primitives can kick-start your workflow. The new setting allows you to easily create, resize, and reposition primitive solid shapes into any part of your mesh. Just select the primitive you want to add, including the new cube shape (box), and that’s it. There’s no need to specify the required area for fitting.

New in AS18!
New in Artec Studio 18: Auto-Alignment of Mesh-to-CAD
Aligning a scanned mesh with a CAD model manually can be a time-consuming and tedious process, particularly for complex objects. The automatic alignment function can significantly reduce the amount of time and effort required for this task. Additionally, this function makes the process more efficient and reducing the risk of errors or inconsistencies.
Precise Datum Alignment For Scan To CAD
Even when your scan is an impeccable digital replica of a part or object, if it isn’t properly aligned with its corresponding CAD reference model, any variances that show up can be unreliable due to misalignment. Datum alignment enables metrology professionals to align meshes and CAD models using key geometric features in just a few clicks, ensuring there are no slight variances from misalignment. This empowers you to make decisions based on data you can trust.
Carry out quick surface distance map comparisons and accurate measurements of any 3D model you create. Add annotations, take a screenshot of your results, or export your distance map results as a CSV file for further analysis.
Primitives For Accurate Measurements
Convert sections of your mesh into primitives–spheres, cones, planes, cylinders, boxes, and torus. Use these simple geometrical shapes to perform highly accurate measurements directly in Artec Studio. For example, measure the deviation of a surface from a plane or a hole from a fitted cylinder or sphere.
Artec Studio 18 Certified For Metrology
Artec Studio 18 has received certification for its precision from PtB, a prominent authority in German standards, affirming its excellence in 3D metrology.
Artec underwent rigorous assessments to guarantee compliance with industrial measurement benchmarks. Their 3D scanning solutions are well-suited for various applications, ranging from reverse engineering to quality control in the medical and automotive sectors.

Color Texture Features in Artec Studio 18
New in AS18!
New in Artec Studio 18: Boost Color Contrast With AI
(Scroll right to see all color features)
Artec Studio is now capable of using a AI to decode raw texture frames in a way that improves color contrast, doubles scan resolution, and improves overall texture quality.
New in AS18!
New in Artec Studio 18: Scene Lighting Optimization
This feature enables to create realistic renders by replicating real-world lighting scenarios. By moving the light source, it is possible to highlight specific features, textures, or contours in your model, enhancing their visibility and appeal.
Create Photorealistic Texture By Using High Quality Photos from Your Digital SLR or Smartphone for Texture Mapping
Artec Studio’s brand-new photo viewing mode for applying high-resolution photos to high-accuracy scans will refine the process for creating texture-perfect, professional 3D models for CGI. You can now easily preview photos and see how they fit to the geometry of the model and remove any images with defects, overexposure, and poor lighting. And now with the introduction of the new photo-texturing algorithm, images are automatically sorted and separated into groups: by size, camera type, or focal distance, allowing for simple individual registration.
Mesh Alignment by Scale Algorithm Makes It Easy To Match The Scale Of One Mesh To Another
When you capture an object with photogrammetry, its real dimensions in 3D are unknown without the use of additional tools (targets, a scale bar, or a tape measure). The mesh alignment by scale algorithm allows you to match the arbitrary scale of a model created with photogrammetry to the real scale of a model captured by an Artec scanner, directly in Artec Studio.
Automatic Glare Removal Feature
Get Rid Of Noticable Glares In Your Scans
When a 3D scanner collects scan data, it most likely uses a light source. Some surfaces can reflect the light of the flash, leaving uneven and unwanted visible glare. The Automatic Glare Removal feature uses advanced PBR algorithms to rid of glare in your 3D scans. Retouching scans is a tedious, time-consuming task. Artec Studio harmonizes the balance of lighting of the final model, saving you time and creating stunning 3D models without manual processing.
Export For Industry Use
Get the scan data in commonly used industry file formats.
Once 3D capturing and post-processing is complete, export your 3D models into various formats and use them in your favorite software application.
for fastest and smoothest path from 3D scan to CAD, 3D inspection, or 3D modeling programs.
